Eagles hang on to defeat Wildcats 5-4, hand Taft first league loss
The Taft varsity baseball team ran into a roadblock Tuesday afternoon when the Bakersfield Christian Eagles outlasted the Wildcats 5-4 in Taft.
Bakersfield Christian made the first move with a run in the second inning with Austin Huckaby's hit over the left field fence.
Taft countered by taking their only lead of the game in the bottom of the second when they scored three runs highlighted by Steven Gee's two run double.
Bakersfield Christian erased the deficit by scoring two runs in the third inning, one in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Taft narrowed the gap thanks to Jeremy Harmer's run scoring double to left field.
The two teams square off again Friday in Bakersfield.
