The resignation of Roland Maier from the West Side Recreation and Park District’s Board of Directors has left an opening on the five-member body. The board had to cancel a meeting last week, in fact, because it didn't have a quorum
Maier, a former principal with Taft City School District, has been superintendent/principal with Cuyama Joint Unified School District since July 2011 but was still living in the Recreation District’s boundaries until recently, said Don Koenig, district administrator.
Since moving out of the district, Maier has had to resign, Koenig said.
Kern County appoints three of the members of the district board and Taft city the other two. Maier was appointed by the county.
Anyone who would be interested in serving on the district’s board should contact 4th District Supervisor David Couch, Koenig said.
