Six run third inning dooms Wildcats
It was not the thing the Taft varsity baseball team was hoping for late Friday afternoon when they fell to the Bakersfield Christian Eagles 8-6 in Bakersfield.
Taft had the momentum early on by scoring two runs in the first on Steven Gee's leadoff single and stolen base before scoring on an error. The Wildcats scored another run in the inning on a hit batter, an error and a passed ball.
After Bakersfield Christian got one of the runs back, in their half of the first inning, Taft erupted for three runs highlighted by Anthony Rodriguez's two run single to right field.
However, the tide turned for good in the third inning when the Eagles put up six runs while sending 11 batters to the plate. Bakersfield Christian went on to score one more run in the fourth on a sun triple and an error.
