Ordinance would cut speed limit to 25 miles per hour from South Street to near Pico

An ordinance was introduced Tuesday at the morning session of Kern County Board of Supervisors to lower the speed limit to 25 mile per hour on Asher Avenue between South Street and a point 380 feet north of Pico Street.

That section of Asher is immediately south of Conley School. The lower speed limit would affect the 200, 300, 400 and 500 blocks of Asher.

This speed limit change is being done in an effort to increase safety on this section of the roadway according to Fourth District Supervisor David Couch's office.

Before being enacted, the ordinance must be adopted at a subsequent meeting.
