June 22, 1922 - April 26, 2013

Gerry Rasmussen, a long-time Pismo Beach resident, passed away in Arroyo Grande, CA on April 26, 2013. She was born June 22, 1922 to Henry and Leah Winter in Selma, CA. For many years Gerry and husband Alvin lived in Taft, CA where together they built their home on Fillmore St. Following Alvin’s retirement from Standard Oil Company, they relocated to the Central Coast and settled in Pismo Beach. Gerry was very talented and creative. She could wield magic with a paintbrush while producing beautiful oil paintings and also with a sewing machine and needle and thread while creating one-of-a-kind garments for her clientele and family, including beautiful hand-sewn formal gowns for her daughter. She leaves behind many mementos of her creativity and artistic abilities. She is survived by daughter Carol McDaniels of Oceano, CA; grandchildren Mark McDaniels of Palm Desert, CA; Lisa McDaniels of Irvine, CA; Melissa Graham and Melanie Rasmussen of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren James and Shane McDaniels, Jack Graham, and Shelly Rasmussen; sisters Betty Winter, Joyce Rehn, Barbara Smith, Donna Ficcarelli, Mary Leigh Grilione, and brother Henry Winter. She was preceded in death by husband Alvin and son Gary. “There is love that will live forever, and there are memories that will shine through the sorrow.”
