Event will take place June 1

Right now the Taft varsity baseball team is gearing up for their playoff run.

In less than a month another event will take center stage when the West Side Recreation and Park District presents Baseball's Best 2013 Showcase at the Cougar field at the Taft College campus on Saturday, June 1.

Players from all over Kern County will have their opportunity to showcase their talents in front of college and pro scouts.

The day will start the check in at 9 a.m. Thirty minutes later players will have the option of taking part in the 60-yard time.

Batting practice will take place at 10 a.m. followed by infield and outfield practice at 11 a.m. The National Anthem with the U.S. Military color guard will take place at 11:30 a.m. After the National Anthem, the first pitch will thrown out with Kern County Supervisor David Couch and the Wounded Knee Foundation.

The first game between the North and the South will start at 11:45 a.m. with the second game between the North and the South starting at 2:15 p.m.

Graduates from 2013 will be selected to participate in a showcase/all star event. Players will be selected by the coaches committee.
