The murder trial of Dustin Wedel for the January 2011 beating death of three-year-old James Fanshier has been delayed until fall.
Dustin Wedel, was scheduled to go on trial on Monday on charges of first degree murder, assault of a child under age 8 and willful cruelty to a child.
Now, the trial date has been pushed back to Oct. 7, Kern County Court records show.
No reason for this latest delay was given.
Wedel, 26, was arrested on June 23, 2011, five months to the day after Fanshier died.
It was the same day that autopsy results, which showed the child died of blunt force trauma, were released.
Wedel is being held on $1 million bail.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges
Fanshier was pronounced dead at 100 ½ Van Buren shortly after medical aid was dispatched to the home for a report of a child not breathing.
