After a week off, the Taft varsity baseball and softball teams will open the CIF playoffs at home this week.
The softball team, which got a No.2 seed, got a bye in the first round and will square off against No.7 seed Mira Monte at home Thursday afternoon. The winner will face the winner of the No.3 Chowchilla-No.6 Dos Palos matchup. Taft will host a playoff game until the championship game where they could possibly face No.1 seed Liberty Madera Ranchos.
Meanwhile, the baseball team got the No.5 seed and will host No.12 Golden Valley Wednesday. This will be the third time the teams have met up this season with the Wildcats winning both of the previous matches. The winner of the matchup will square off against No.4 seed Selma or No.13 Wasco Friday.
