Taft offense erupts for 12 runs in the third inning, Arizona Pilgrim throws one hitter

The Taft varsity softball team showed no signs of rust Thursday afternoon when they blew past the Mira Monte Lions 18-0 in the quarterfinal round of the CIF-CS Division IV playoffs in Taft.

With the victory, Taft advances to semi final round where they will face either No.3 Chowchilla or Dos Palos.

Taft's offense started their outburst in the bottom of the first inning with three runs including a two run home run by Corie Evans.

After scoring two runs in the second, the Lady Wildcats blew the game open in the last half of the third inning when they erupted for 12 runs while sending 16 batters to the plate. Cailtyn Emberson highlighted the run with a three run home run while Tara Kelley and Halle Neher each had two run singles.

Taft's offense added one more run in the second to cap their scoring spree.

While Taft was putting up runs in droves, Mira Monte only had one batter reach base on a single in the top of the third inning.Meanwhile, Arizona Pilgrim struck out nine batters.
