Reading is so Delicious!
Come and sample some of the reading flavors that the Kern County Library has to offer, when the 2013 Summer Reading Program kicks off in June.
Each Thursday afternoon from June 13 through July 25, special programs will be presented in the Taft College Cougar Room, directly behind the Taft Branch. Young and old alike will enjoy these free shows, which are sponsored by the Kern County Friends of the Library, the Westside Friends of the Library, and the Taft College Library:
June 13 2:00 p.m. Omnipresent Puppet Theater: Hansel and Gretel
June 20 4:00 p.m. Cooking Demo & Taste Test: Food, Family and Fun
June 27 2:00 p.m. Wild Child Adventures: Bubble Fun
July 11 2:00 p.m. Ventriloquist Randel McGee and Groark: The Bully Awareness Show
July 18 2:00 p.m. Roaming Reptiles
July 25 2:00 p.m. Stone Soup Story Theater
In addition, the Taft Branch will offer Summer Storytime every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. for 3 to 8 year-olds and their families.
Kids who read 10 or more books of their choice during June and July will earn rewards, including a free paperback book provided by the Kern County Friends of the Library, a coupon for a free Auntie Anne’s pretzel, a ticket for free admission to Legoland, and a coupon for free admission to a Condors hockey game. Children who are not yet readers can participate by having stories read to them. Reading Records will be available at the Taft Branch starting June 7, after they have read their first book.
