Victim said one suspect punched him, other one took bike and rode off. One woman arrested
Kern County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a woman on a robbery charge in connection with the assault on a bicyclist and theft of his bike.
The incident occurred on May 25.
The victim, a 26-year-old man whose name was not released, told deputies he was riding his bike on the 200 block of Madison Street when he was accosted by two woman who came out of a house and demanded his bike, Sgt. Martin Downs said.
One woman punched the man in the face, Downs said, and a second woman took the bike from him and rode off.
A short time later, the investigation led deputies to a home on the 200 block of Fillmore when they found a bike being spray painted.
The victim later identified the bike as his.
Further in investigation linked 19-year-old Kayla Melton to the robbery and she was arrested at the Fillmore Street home Sunday morning.
Melton is being held in Kern County Jail.
The second suspect has not been arrested and the investigation is continuing.
