  • Summer is supposed to be a time for sports like baseball, softball and golf.
Yet, the Taft High football team got a head start on their upcoming season last Wednesday evening when they competed in a 7-on-7 competition at Liberty High School in Bakersfield.
“We had quite of few first time varsity players on Wednesday and it showed a bit,” said Taft coach Jarudd Prosser. “Walking away from it I feel it was valuable experience and we will continue to improve.”
During the competition, the Wildcats went up against Shafter, Stockdale and Ridgeview.
According to Prosser, each game lasted about 30 minutes.
The team gets three opportunities to make 20 yards and four to make the next 20 yards. Overall, 21 Taft players traveled to Bakersfield for the competition.
Taft will have another chance to work on their game again when they travel back to Liberty Wednesday evening. The competition begins at 6 p.m.
