Suspect ran from deputies though yards in South Taft
A man was arrested on charges of drug possession and assaulting a police officer when Kern County sheriff's deputies contacted him in South Taft last week.
Deputies were on foot patrol in the 1000 block of Buena Vista about 10:35 p.m. on June 16 when they heard the sounds of arguing and fighting from a home there, Sgt. Martin Downs.
Deputies attempted to contact one subject at the house, but he fled, jumping a fence and putting his hands in his packets like he was trying to hide something, Downs said.
The suspect continued to run through yards but deputies were able to catch him when he ran up against a closed gate.
The deputies were restraining him, downs said, when the suspect, later identified as Timmy Ryan McReynolds, 27, of Taft struggled against them.
They were able to to take him into custody and when searching him, found a gram of suspected methamphetamine.
McReynolds was charged with possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest.e was still in custody Sunday, Kern County Sheriff's jail records show.
He is also being held on two warrants, one out of Ridgecrest for being under the influence of a controlled substance and an out-of-county warrant for driving under the influence, driving without a license and being under the influence of a controlled substance, jail records show.
