The Taft Nationals youth baseball team channeled the hot weather in Taft Thursday evening in a 13-3 victory over the Taft Angels on the Taft High varsity baseball field.
It wasn't the Nationals that struck first, instead it was the Angels in the top of the first inning when they scored two out of their three runs. Jackson Sorenson highlighted the run with a single to right field.
However, the Nationals countered with six runs in their half of the first inning followed by three in the second. The Nationals went on to score two more times in the third and fourth innings.
The Angels struck again in the third inning thanks to two walks, an error and a passed ball.
