Two arrested in raids around the county
The Kern County Fire Department Arson Investigations Units, with assistance from the Kern County Sheriff's Department and Kern County Probation Department, conducted several undercover operations in an effort to stop the selling of, and to seize illegal fireworks around Kern County.
Over the past few days, Investigators were successful in the seizure of approximately 730 pounds of illegal fireworks, resulting in the felony arrests of two individuals for possession of a large quantity of illegal fireworks.
Those caught with illegal fireworks will face a $1,500 fine, and those caught misusing or altering
safe and sane fireworks, as well as using fireworks outside the designated times, will face a $500 fine.For more information on the sale and usage times for fireworks, visit www.kerncountyfire.org.
The Kern County Fire Department would also like to remind resident to be safe this 4th of July, and celebrate using only Safe and Sane fireworks in their approved manner, or participate in a professional aerial firework show located throughout the county.
