It was a rough tournament start for the Taft Divas all-star softball team Saturday morning when they lost to a Delano team 20-3 on Oliver field.
Delano didn't waste any time scoring runs by scoring 10 in the first inning with the only hits coming on two singles and an inside the park home run. The inning was called due to the 10 run rule.
Taft bounced back in their half of the first inning thanks to a pair of walks, Kayron Vasquez's run scoring single and a throwing error by the Delano infield.
However, Delano doubled their score in the top of the second inning highlighted by a two run triple. Like the previous inning, the second inning was called due to the 10-run rule.
Thanks to a pair of walks, a wild pitch and a passed ball, Taft got one of the runs back in their half of the second. Despite getting a run, the game was called after the second inning due to the mercy rule.
Taft went on to play another game this morning. To read the full story on how the Divas did in the tournament along with how the other Taft team did, pick up Tuesday's Driller.
