Suspect still faces two felony assault with a deadly weapon charges
A man arrested on attempted murder charges last month by Kern County Sheriff's deputies is free on bail after the charges were reduced.
James Leroy Taylor Jr. now faces counts of assault with a deadly weapon with force likely to cause great bodily harm, assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.
Taylor was arrested by deputies after they were called to a Maricopa address early on June 30 for a report of a disturbance.
Taylor, 23, allegedly choked a woman until she was unconscious and hit a man with a chair.
Deputies said Taylor became upset after he was asked to leave and attacked the two people.
