A car crash led to a car fire that touched off a large grass fire in the Temblors west of McKittrick Saturday afternoon.
It all started just after 3 p.m. when a car went off Highway 58 just east of the Kern County-San Luis Obispo County line and landed upside down in a ravine.
Then, according to reports from the scene, a car stopped to render assistance.
That car caught fire and was destroyed.
The fire then spread into the dry grass on the south side of the highway.
Two people in the car that crashed suffered moderate injuries, according to reports from the scene.
Further details about the crash and the identities of the injured were not immediately available.
The grass fire burned about 50 acres and was contained in about two hours after water-dropping helicopters, fixed-wing air tankers, fire engines, bulldozers and hand crews arrived on scene.
