He originally faced attempted murder charge for choking woman
James Leroy Taylor Jr. will be sentenced in August after he pleaded no contest to assault on a person causing great bodily harm.
The plea agreement resulted after prosecutors dropped an attempted murder charge against Taylor 23, who was accused of choking a woman until she was unconscious and hitting a man with a chair in Maricopa in the early morning hours on June 29, is being held on $75,000 bail.
Taylor will be sentenced on Aug. 8 in the Taft branch of Kern County Superior Court.
He was already on probation after pleading no contest to grand theft from a person on Jan. 26, 2011 and a no contest plea to vandalism and battery on a person on March 20, 2013 stemming from an arrest in May 2012.
