Dunsmuir's Justin DeClusin had the bulk of the North's offense during a 26-22 win over the South in the 2013 Lions All Star Football 8 Man Game July 13 in Oroville.

Dunsmuir's Justin DeClusin had 252 yards of offense and scored two touchdowns to help lead the North to a 26-22 victory in Saturday evening's Lions All Star Football 8 Man Game at Harrison Stadium in Oroville.

Selected by the Lions as the game's most valuable player, DeClusin was one of four members of Dunsmuir High School's 2012 Northern Section championship team on the North roster.

"Our Dunsmuir four played extremely well and most went both ways the entire game," North head coach Ray Kellar wrote in an email.

DeClusin had the bulk of the North's 340 yards of offense, carrying the ball 19 times from scrimmage for 217 yards and 1 TD, while catching 2 passes for 35 yards and a score. He also had 3 tackles on defense.

Also from Dunsmuir, Mason Mekeel caught one pass for 23 yards, had 5 tackles, and "played well at center in the second half," Kellar said.

Cody Hagedon caught a pass for 37 yards, made 9 tackles, and "played well both ways," according to Kellar.

The coach said Jeff Rhoades had 6 tackles, 2 for loss, "in a great offensive and defensive display."

Kellar said, "I am extremely proud of these four young men and their dedication to the practices and preparation for this game. I wish them well in their journey after high school and know that they will all be successful in their own ways."

Assisted in the All Star effort by his 2012 DHS coaching staff, Kellar said, "I would also like to thank Chris Ballard (offensive coordinator), Scott Sordahl (assistant), Robert Wallace (special teams) and Jimmy Palmer (trainer) for their time, efforts and dedication to the week of preparation and game administration."

The 8 Man and 11 Man Lions All Star games are played by members of that year's graduating classes at schools within the Lions District 4-C1.

The score of Saturday's 8 Man game was tied 8-8 after one quarter. The North led 14-8 at the half, but trailed 16-14 going into the final period.
