Heimiller finishes second two different times

It was the final B meet of the season and a couple of the Taft Tigersharks swimmers made the most of it Tuesday afternoon when they finished in the top three at the Rio Bravo Greeley B meet in Bakersfield.

Malynn Stepp had the highlight of the day for Taft by winning the 11-year old girls 50-yard backstroke with a time of 49.25.
Stepp was also second in the breaststroke with a time of 54.53.

Robert Heimiller followed with a pair of second place finishes starting with the 10-year old boys 50-yard butterfly by finishing in a time of 47.87. Heimiller was edged out in the race by Roadrunner Aquatics’ Jacob Love who had a time of 47.55.

Heimiller’s next second place finish came in the 50-yard freestyle where he had a time of 38.43. Heimiller also finished third in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 57.20.

Kane Dayton was second in the eight year old boys 25-yard butterfly with a time of 41.81 while Kailee Barker was second in the nine year old girls 50-yard freestyle with a time of 44.88. Dayton also finished third in the 25-yard backstroke with a time of 32.06.

Jaye Sparks was third in the 11-year old girls 50-yard backstroke with a time of 54.10. Jessie Edgar was fourth in the eight year old girls butterfly with a time of 27.83.

Kiley Nance was fifth in the eight year old girls 25-yard backstroke with a time of 29.87 while Callie White was fifth in the nine year old girls 50-yard backstroke with a time of 57.20.

White also finished sixth in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 1:11.56.

The season wraps up this Saturday with the Kern County Swim Council Championship swim meet at the Taft High pool. The meet starts at 9 a.m.
