Southbound traffic nearly at a standstill. Some structures threatened
A fast moving brush fire is burning on the west side of I-5 and it is threatening some structures in the Digier Canyon area at the north end of Lebec.
Some evacuations were ordered just before 2 p.m. and a storage building with black powder in it at the Ft. Tejon Historic Park could be threatened by the fire
An engine and battalion chief from Taft are on scene to help with protecting structures threatened by the fire.
Southbound traffic on I-5 was was still being allowed through at 1:30 p.m. but it is moving only at a crawl.
The fire broke out about noon.
Numerous engines bulldozers, handcrews, air tankers and helicopters are battling the fire, which started across the freeway from the Tejon Ranch headquarters.
