  • Kern County Sheriff's deputies from the Taft substation made their second major drug bust in a week Monday night.
The deputies went to arrest a Taft's Most wanted suspect, Brandon Kevinwill Turner, in Dustin Acres Monday night about 10:30 p.m.
They got their man, and they also got a lot more.
According to a news release issued early Tuesday, the deputies seized about two ounces – more than 50 grams – of methamphetamine when they arrested Turner.
Turner, 29, was wanted on warrants for possession of a controlled substance, failure to appear on a felony charge and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
After his arrest, Turner was booked into the Taft jail on the warrants and the new drug possession charge.
Turner had appeared in Taft's Most Wanted, a cooperative effort between the Kern County Sheriff's Office and the Taft Midway Driller. It appears each week in the weekend print edition of the Taft Midway Driller.
A week earlier, deputies made an even bigger drug seizure when a burglary investigation led to the discovery of about 100 grams of methamphetamine and the arrest of Joe Brian Barraza  of Taft on drug trafficking and weapons charges.
