Fifth annual event kicks off Saturday morning and runs all day and into the night
The Tumbleweed Festival is the biggest thing to hit Derby Acres since the discovery of oil.
For the past four years, its brightened up the middle of summer for Derby Acres residents and brought in hundreds of people from Taft and other places for a day and night of fun.
This year's fifth annual Tumbleweed Cafe and Bar Tumbleweed Festival promises to be the biggest and best yet. It all takes place this Saturday starting at 8 a.m. and lasting into the wee small hours of Sunday morning at theTumbleweed.
It's right smack dab in the middle of Derby Acres on Highway 33 at Cloud Avenue.
You can't miss it.
The old favorites are still there – including the car show, the Tumbleweed's famous deep pit barbecue plus bounce houses, water slides and dunk tank, horseshoe festival and of course the signature tumbleweed decorating contest.
This year's event will also include a benefit motorcycle run, a log cutting contest and live music from bands including Mama's Kitchen and other surprise bands to be announced.
There will also be T-shirts, arts and craft and lots of food. The Tumbleweed festival is a nonprofit event with all proceeds going back into the community for programs like the Tumbleweed's annual Thanksgiving and Christmas parties.
