New restaurant will offer great food at reasonable prices.
YREKA – A new family restaurant is under construction in Yreka and will be opening its doors this fall. Siskiyou Roadhouse owners promise that it will offer fresh food at affordable prices – all in a warm and inviting ambiance.
Honest John's Landscaping owners John and Lauren Kennedy are teaming up with Brian and Nanette Kische to open the new eatery.
The Kennedys owned and operated Yreka Drive Thru, now Gold Rush Burgers, for several years before selling it in 2005.
John Kennedy and the co-owners decided to build and open Siskiyou Roadhouse, he said, to provide a quality yet relaxed restaurant environment in an area that he described as having limited dining options.
Siskiyou Roadhouse will be located at 1281 S. Main St. on the 1.17-acre lot where Honest John's Landscaping is currently located. The nursery remains open for business on the west side of the property, with access from Bruce Street, and access to the restaurant will be via Main Street.
According to Kennedy, construction on the 4,000 square-foot restaurant began in April and is scheduled for completion this September.
In addition to a lunch menu, the restaurant will serve homemade-style steak, prime rib, lobster, unique salads and vegetarian dishes. The bread will be baked on site.
The restaurant building will feature a full bar with a television, a fireplace, vaulted ceilings, a spacious dining area and a window in the kitchen so children can watch their steaks being cooked. The covered outdoor patio dining area will include a fireplace and water features.
"We wanted something new and fresh," commented John. "This will be a laid-back environment for people to come and kick back."
Within six months of opening, Kennedy said he and his co-owners plan to expand the restaurant, creating a banquet room for special events. At that time, between 40 and 50 parking spaces will be added to the property.
Siskiyou Roadhouse will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on weekends. The restaurant's phone number will be 842-YUMM.
"I look forward to getting this place done and open for business," said Kennedy.
