Troop No. 2155 seeking donations to send to the men and women serving our country
Local Girl Scouts are working on a project to help out American servicemen and women serving overseas and the community can play a big part.
It's called "Operation Deployment" and the scouts from Girl Scout Troop No. 2155 are seeking donations of a variety of items to send to the men and women serving our country to make their service a little easier.
The scouts will be collecting the items on Aug. 10-11 at the Taft Chamber of Commerce offices, 400 Kern.
The scouts will be there from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
Here is a list of some of the items being requested:
Baby wipes, pull-top soups, foot or body powder, sun screen, shower scrubbers (lufas), lean protein, Wheat Thins, microwave popcorn, female shaving cream, whey protein, granola bars, tooth brushes, tooth paste, floss, feminine products, shampoo, conditioner, hair brushes, soap, cookies, snacks, muscle milk, chili, chapstick, all-purpose cleaners, tuna fish packets, Cheeze-It, caned meats, crunchy peanut butter, fruit gushers, Monster Absolute Zero drinks, drink mixes for bottled water and small transportable snack foods like Slim Jims. Donations of headphones, and tablets like Kindle for Skype and reading are also being sought.
