The first practice will take place from 8 to 10 a.m.

Taft Union High School girls tennis practice begins Monday from 8 to 10 a.m. All girls with the completed physical paperwork are welcome to come out.

The morning practices will continue for eight days. When teachers return to work on Thursday, Aug. 15, practices will go to their normal time, 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. School begins Monday Aug. 19. The girls host their first game, a non-league but former league opponent, the Division II Tehachapi Warriors, at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. League play will begin the following week.

Taft’s varsity team will work to defend the school’s first tennis league and section championship and the JV girls have won league twice in a row and will work for a threepeat, varsity coach Jim Carnal said.
