The annual Back-to-School Connection event will be held on Aug. 10.
The First Assembly of God Church, 314 Asher Ave. is once again hosting the event, which provides a one-stop prep for school for needy families.
It runs from 9 a.m. to noon.
It's the place to go if children need a backpack, school supplies or clothing to start the new school year later this month. All will be provided for free.
Kids can get free haircuts, too.
Physicals (for both kindergarten and sports) will be provided by Dr. Steve Washington. There is a $20 fee for the physicals.
Parents or guardians must be present at the physicals and bring school forms and immunization records.
There will also be free dental hygiene kits and a Kern County Fire Department safety house.
There will also be a lot of free family activities – face painting, balloons and snow cones.
