Neighbor saw them with stolen motorcycle
Two motorcycle thieves were sentenced to 120 days in jail each after pleading no contest to vehicle theft charges.
Brandon Alexander, 24, and Kenneth Burns, 39, were arrested by Taft Police on Aug. 12 in the 100 block of East Kern where they were apparently resting after stealing a motorcycle from the back yard of a home on the 200 block of E. Lucard.
A neighbor saw the men wiwth the motorycle, Taft Police Lt. Pete Aranda said, and contacted the mother of the owner, who in turn contacted her son and confirmed that no one should be taking the motorcycle.
Police were called, and found the pair sitting on the grass, apparently resting before taking the motorcycle any further.
Both were arrested and charged with vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
The stolen property charges was dismissed Tuesday in court as part of the plea agreement.
Both men got credit for time served and were placed on 3 years probation.
