Rick Mace was born on August 25, 1953 at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois to Donald and Bobby Mace. He passed away in Bakersfield, California on August 24, 2013. Shortly after Rick was born, he and his parents moved back to their home town of Taft, California where he, as he always put it “grew up in the greatest times in America History”. Being an only child, he required and enjoyed the full attention of his parents taking every opportunity he was given and living life to the fullest. During and after his years at Taft Union High School, Rick enjoyed everything from riding dirt bikes to snow skiing, flying airplanes and racing flat bottom boats. He was a master of the slopes and a natural in the water. It wasn’t always fun and games for Rick. He had a serious business side and was always looking for the best way to get ahead. By trade he was an Instrument & Electrical Technician for the petroleum industry but he also made money on real estate investments. With this said, the most important event in Rick’s life was the birth of his one and only son, Cody, in 1986. In the words of Mr. Mace, “everything I do, I do for my son” and that is how he lived the remainder of his life, keeping his son in his thoughts with every new journey he took. Richard Mace was preceded in death by his father Donald Mace and his mother Bobbie Mace. He is survived by his son Cody Mace and daughter in law Arianna Mace. Services will be held at Erickson & Brown Funeral Home on Thursday, August 29th at 2:00 p.m.
Rick was one of a kind.
