Bakersfield couple escapes serious injury

A Bakersfield couple escaped serious injury but still had to go to the hospital when their pickup and travel trailer overturned on Highway 33 south of Maricopa Sunday afternoon.

California Highway Patrol officer Adam Taylor said the pair, whose names ere not released, were northbound in a Chevrolet Silverado pulling a 30-foot trailer when they attempted to pass a big rig.
The trailer started whipping, Taylor said, causing the driver to lose control of the truck.

Both vehicles overturned, landing on the east shoulder of the roadway about a mile north of Klipstein Canyon Road.
The man and woman were both taken to a Bakersfield hospital by Hall Ambulance with what firefighters termed minor injuries.
