Victim says 2 or 3 men assaulted him with wrench

A Taft man was attacked and beaten as he walked down Tenth Street late Sunday night.

Taft Police Lt. Pete Aranda said the victim, Christopher Trejo, 30, told officer he was walking down Tenth Street near Supply Row about 11 p.m. when he was attacked by two or three men.

Trejo told officers one of them had a weapon, possibly a wrench, and struck him in the face, inflicting several wounds.

Trejo was taken by ambulance to Mercy Southwest for treatment after the attack.
Trejo has not been cooperating with officers, Aranda said.
