Hunt will take place from November 16-17
In just a couple of months, the weather will cool down and people will be getting ready for the holiday season. Another tradition will be taking place during that period of time when the Taft Sportsmen's Club will be holding the two day J.C. Chitwood Memorial 19th annual Junior Pheasant Hunt from November 16-17.
The junior pheasant hunt is open to all young hunters who have a hunting license and are 16 years and younger. The hunt will take place Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8 a.m.-noon and again Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1-5 p.m.
Registration for the morning shoot will go from 7-8 a.m. while registration for the afternoon shoot will take place from noon-1 p.m.
The annual hunt is a family event and a chance for young hunters to come acquainted with safe gun practices, learn respect for the environment, work with hunting dogs and practice skills necessary to become a safe and successful sportsman.
Registration is currently underway and will run until Thursday, Nov. 14 or until the hunts are filled.
