  • Jerry Noel McGinnis, 78, of Tecumseh, MO passed away on September 15, 2013 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, AR. He was born on February 6, 1935 in Mammoth, Mo to Ross and Lela (Walker) McGinnis.
    On May 27, 1955, Jerry was united in marriage to Frances Mae Varnon in Taft, CA. Jerry and Frances raised their family there. Jerry retired from Chevron Oil Company USA in 1991 and once Frances retired they started planning their move to Missouri, which happened in 1995.
    Jerry was a member of the Church of Christ at the Gainesville congregation.  He was active in Lion’s Club and was past president of  Lion’s.  He was also a member of the 17 Gallon Club at Houchin Blood Bank. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, camping, playing golf, and gardening. He also enjoyed bowling, watching the birds and deer off his back porch, Bluegrass music and traveling in their motorhome. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and Frances was the love of his life.
    Jerry is survived by his wife Frances McGinnis of the home in Tecumseh, MO; children Marsha Jimenez and husband Oscar of Tecumseh, MO, Bryan McGinnis of Tecumseh, MO, and Melanee McGinnis of Gainesville, Mo.  Thirteen Grandchildren: Ryan, Cyndi, Kris, Jennifer, Michael, John, Tom, Missy, George, Sherena, Adrian, Shelly, and Emma. Twenty-one Great-Grandchildren; one sister Linda Cauthron and husband Don of Bend, OR;  Honorary Son-in-law, Danny Pleasant and his children Rebecca Hamilton and husband Alan, Esther Strong and husband Chance, and D.E. Pleasant and wife Tiffany; Honorary Daughter Carmen Royal and husband Chuck; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, one honorary daughter, two brothers and one sister.
    A Memorial service for Jerry will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Gainesville Church of Christ with Halbert Smith officiating. Burial will be private. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Fair Haven Children’s Home, 3132 North Fair Haven Loop, Strafford, MO  65757. Cremation services are under the care and direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
