Deputies receive report of assault with a deadly weapon in South Taft

A Taft woman was arrested and charged with attempted murder and other counts after an attack left a victim with severe head injuries in South Taft Thursday night.

Few details of the case were immediately available.

A Kern County sheriff's activity log shows deputies were dispatched to a report an assault with a deadly weapon at 7:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Naylor and an arrest was made.

The suspect was identified by an activity log and jail website as Savannah Nichole Cox, 27.

She is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, battery with serious bodily injury and threatening with intent to terrorize.

Her bail is $575,000.

Cox is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, according to the jail website.

Little information about the victim was immediately available, although there were reports form the scene that the victim was taken by medivac helicopter to Kern Medical Center with head injuries.
