Full schedule of activities planned leading up to crowning of king and queen
Taft Union High School will celebrate Homecoming Week next week.
Students will have the opportunity to dress up all week. Monday is “Toy Story” day; Tuesday is Disney tourist day; Wednesday is gender bender/Powder Puff; Thursday is “Pirates of the Caribbean day; and, Friday is favorite Disney character/couple day.
On Monday, senior boys will play Tough Guy Volleyball at 7 p.m. in Mullen Gym. Admission costs $1.
Wednesday is the annual Powder Puff football game at 7 p.m. in Martin Memorial Stadium. Admission costs $2. The homecoming king will be crowned at halftime.
The Great Race between seniors, juniors, sophomores, freshmen and staff will be held on the football field during the extended lunch on Thursday.
Thursday evening, the frosh-soph football team will play the Arvin Bears at 5 p.m., followed by the JV game at 7 p.m.
On Friday, the homecoming floats will circle the track at 6 p.m., followed by the homecoming queen candidates. The queen will be crowned and will join the king on stage before the varsity team plays Arvin at 7 p.m.
Queen candidates are: Victoria May, Lizette Mendoza, Halle Neher, Viviana Orozco and Haylee Tracy. King candidates are: Zach Brown, Seth Faagau, Christian Hoffmann, Kyle Jameson and Josh Tiger.
The homecoming dance will be held after the game in Mullen gym. Cost is $10 without an Associated Student Body sticker or super sticker; $8 with an ASB sticker. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. and the dance concludes at midnight.
