The Taft junior varsity football team made a smooth transition into the league season Thursday night with a 33-0 victory over Arvin at home.
Taft's offense didn't take long to make the first strike with a touchdown run early in the first quarter. The Wildcats would not score again until a little over a minute left in the quarter on a 2-yard run.
The Wildcats next score came on the defensive side of the ball with a blocked put in the endzone for a safety in the opening stages of the second quarter. Taft had a chance to score a touchdown in the waning seconds of the first half but instead came away with a field goal.
Taft did all of their third quarter scoring in a 1:43 span thanks to 33-yard and a three yard run for a touchdown.
