Flames break out on 300 block of Adeline

Two families were forced from their homes early Sunday morning when fire broke out on the 300 block of Adeline Street.

Kern County firefighters were alerted to the fire a just after 2 a.m. and first-in crews found “ a large amount of fire to the rear of 324 Adeline,” Battalion Chief Brent Moon said.

The fire involved a home at 324 Adeline, patio, fence, and home and shed at 318-1/2 Adeline, Moon said.
Crews from the Maricopa station attacked the fire and firefighters from Taft and Fellows arrived to establish a water supply and assist in putting the fire out.

The families living at 318-1/2 and 324were both evacuated. One family may be able to move back in but the home at 324 Adeline suffered more damage and will need to be cleaned and repaired before it is habitable, Moon said.

The cause is still under investigation.
