Taft defeats Robert F. Kennedy in three sets

The Taft varsity volleyball team got to taste their first league victory Thursday night with a 25-8, 25-19, 25-7 win over Robert F. Kennedy in Delano.

It didn't take long for the Lady Wildcats to get on a roll with a 12-2 run to kick off the first set. Robert F. Kennedy narrowed the deficit to single digits at 12-3 but Taft regained a double digit advantage and held it the rest of the set. The Lady Wildcats capped the run by outscoring the Lady Thunderbirds 8-2 to close out the first set.

Taft found themselves in a battle early in the second set with the teams tying each other six times. Taft surged ahead with a mini run and held onto the small lead until they went on a 7-2 run to win the second set.

The Lady Wildcats extended their run into the third set when they jumped out to a 9-2 advantage. Robert F. Kennedy whittled the deficit to five at 9-4 but Taft countered with a 16-3 run to close out the set and match.
