Blaze breaks out about 10:30 p.m. Friday. Cause under investigation

 Fire caused extensive damage to a vacant South Taft house Friday night.

Kern County firefighters had the blaze knocked down in just a few minutes, but it had already caused $20,000 damage to the 1,200-square foot single-family residence on the 200 block of Asher Avenue.

The KCFD listed the save to the structure at $40,000.

Dispatchers received multiple calls of the a structure fire at about 10:30 p.m. and arriving firefighters found the structure about 50 percent involved in flames when they arrived a few minutes later.

Firefighters responded with four engines and a truck and had 14 personnel on the scene.

It took about two hours for mopup.

The cause is under investigation.
