The Lady Lions win final set by eight points

Volleyball is known for its wild swings in momentum. The Lincoln and Fairfax sixth grade volleyball teams experienced that first hand in Taft Wednesday afternoon with the Lady Lions pulling out a 25-7, 22-25 15-7 victory over the Lady Falcons.

Momentum was on Lincoln’s side to begin the match when they reeled off five straight points to open the first set.

After Fairfax got their first point, the Lady Lions countered to lead 6-1. The Lady Falcons attempted to get back in the set by cutting the advantage in half.

That is when Lincoln took off with a 9-0 run highlighted by Morgan Pulido's four aces. Fairfax broke the run but Lincoln went on a 9-3 run to close out the first set.

Lincoln threatened to run away with the match by jumping out to a 9-1 run to begin the second set highlighted by Reagan Hamilton's three aces. Fairfax put together a mini 2-0 run to trail 9-3. The Lady Lions got another point but the Lady Falcons went on a 6-2 run to cut the deficit to 12-9.

Lincoln held onto the narrow advantage until Fairfax tied the score at 17. The two teams tied each other four more times before the Lady Falcons outscored Lincoln 4-1 to close out the set and even the match at one.

Lincoln recaptured their magic at the start of the third set with seven unanswered points including two aces from Hamilton. Fairfax bounced back with a 4-2 run to trail 9-4. The Lady Falcons narrowed the deficit to four but Lincoln outscored Fairfax 5-3 to win the set and match.
