They leave empty handed after causing serious damage
Would-be copper wire thieves left empty handed after they went to the trouble of cutting down a power pole near Fellows.
The thieves caused considerable damage but they didn't get what they were looking for. The found steel instead of copper.
The Kern County Sheriff's Rural Crimes reported this week that unknown suspects cut down a power pole located on an oilwell site on Midoil Road.
Several other poles were pulled down as a result of cutting the first pole down.
When the suspects realized the lines were steel and not copper, they left the lines at the scene.
