A week after competing in their first home meet, the Taft boys and girls cross country teams returned to the road Saturday to take part in the Woodlake Invitational at Cutler Park in Visalia.
“Times are dropping and the weather is more conducive to running fast as well,” said Taft coach Ryan Hickman.
Sergio Robles had the fastest time among the Wildcat boys by finishing his race in a personal best time of 18:40. Chuy Gutierrez was next with a time of 19:18 while Erwin Gama had a time of 19:20.
Humberto Plascencia ran a personal best time of 19:57 while Felix Wildberger and Alex Arguello each ran in a time of 21:19 with Wildberger’s run being a personal best.
Clayton Wikoff ran in a personal best time of 21:22 with Christian Palacios running a personal best of 21:43.
Jorge Lopez ran a personal best of 22:40 while Sutton Yochum ran a personal best of 22:42.
Brandon Breslin finished in a time of 23:56 while Esaul Banuelos had a personal best time of 24:42.
In the girls races, Mayda Cisneros had the best time among the Lady Wildcats by setting a personal best with a time of 23:23. Mackenzie Vega and Arely Varela each followed with a personal best time of 23:24.
Abby Xancale was next with a time of 23:25 with Daniela Fierros setting a personal best time of 23:58. Marta Robles had a time of 24:28 while Jeydi Santiago finished with a personal best time of 25:12. Jasmin Lopez had a personal best time of 25:14.
As a team the Taft junior varsity boys and girls each placed second.
Taft is in the midst of another week long break before returning to action Saturday at the Mt. Sac Invitational. The meet begins at noon.
