The Taft varsity volleyball team got back into the win column Tuesday night with a 25-16, 25-16, 23-25, 25-23 victory over the Wasco Tigers at home.
Taft got off to a roaring start by jumping out to a 5-2 lead to begin the first set. The Lady Wildcats held onto the small lead until they went on a 6-2 run to lead 16-9. Wasco narrowed it to five but Taft took off again with a 5-1 run. The Lady Tigers cut the deficit to six before Taft scored the final three points to take the first set.
Wasco had the momentum to begin the second set by outscoring Taft 5-1. The Lady Wildcats caught fire with a 19-4 run to take over the lead at 20-9. The Lady Tigers attempted to get back into the set with a 7-4 run to get within eight but Taft scored the final point to take the second set.
Taft reeled off two straight points to begin the third set before Wasco went on an 8-2 run. The Lady Tigers held on to the small lead until Taft tie the score at 12. Taft would tie the score again at 13 before Wasco pulled ahead by two. The teams would tie five times before Wasco scored the final two points to win the third set.
The Lady Wildcats regained their momentum in the fourth set with a 4-0 run. Wasco fought back with seven unanswered points before Taft went on a 6-0 run. The teams would go on to tie two times before Wasco went briefly ahead. Trailing by one point, Taft went on a 7-2 run to lead 22-17.
Wasco fought back to tie the score at 23 before Taft answered with the final two points to win the set and match.l
