Opinion page editor Rick Holmes and other writers blog about national politics and issues. Holmes & Co. is a Blog for Independent Minds, a place for a free-flowing discussion of policy, news and opinion. This blog is the online cousin of the Opinion section of the MetroWest Daily News in Framingham, Mass. As such, our focus starts there and spreads to include Massachusetts, the nation and the world. Since successful blogs create communities of readers and writers, we hope the \x34& Co.\x34 will also come to include you.

The AP story put it this way:

“Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is rebuffing calls from Republicans for her to resign over the troubled launch of the ObamaCare sign-up website, saying those asking her to resign are ‘people I don’t work for.’”

Really? This Administration doesn’t work for Congress, or Republicans, or Americans, or who, exactly? Or does she mean she answers only to Obama and that he is above the rest of us. Damn straight Sebelius works for me. I pay her salary.

This computer glitch isn’t about technology. There was nothing more important on the whole Sebelius planet and Obamaworld than making sure that the role out of the train wreck gave no ammo to Republicans in 2014. Protecting the president. That became her job. And she blew it. leave aside the positives or negatives of Obamcare. This is about competence and understanding her job. Her only task, night and day for four years, was making sure that this worked, and it didn’t.

It’s not Republicans who should be calling for her head–it’s Obama. And his failure to fire her speaks volumes about the way the Regime views itself and government in general. This Regime loves incompetence, and gives everyone a gold star for effort, no matter how bad the job performance.

When Sebelius gets to Congress next week, these are issues that Congress, who is now stuck with paying for this farce that it so badly wanted to defund, should ask. We’re entitled to know who Sebelius thinks she works for.
