WASCO- The Taft junior varsity football team took another step towards the league title Friday afternoon in a 39-14 victory over the Wasco Tigers.
It took a while for the teams to score. Taft got the scoring outburst going in the second quarter with a 16-yard run. Thanks to a blocked punt, the Wildcats got their next score a short later when a Taft player recovered the ball in the endzone.
Wasco bounced back with a 40-yard run late in the second quarter but Taft kicked a field goal on an untimed down to take a 10 point lead.
Taft continued to score in the fourth quarter with an 11-yard run and a safety thanks to a sack in the endzone.
The Wildcats extended their lead nine seconds into the fourth quarter with a 27-yard pass play. After Wasco added to their point total, Taft scored their final touchdown of the game with 2:38 left to go.
