The Taft varsity football team closed out their road schedule Friday night with a 31-13 loss to the Wasco Tigers.
Taft's defense had the advantage early when Wasco fumbled the ball on the first series with Taft getting the ball at the Wasco 15. However, the Wildcats were unable to get into the endzone and had to settle for a field goal.
The Wildcats had another chance later in the quarter when Wasco fumbled the ball on a punt with Taft recovering at the Wasco 42. Like the previous time, Taft was unable to score a touchdown and had to turn the ball over.
Wasco made their move early in the second quarter with an 81-yard run. Two plays later, the Tigers ran in for the touchdown. Despite taking the lead, the score remained the same until late in the first half when Wasco kicked a field goal right before the halftime break.
Scoring was at a premium in the third quarter with the Tigers scoring the lone points with a touchdown run at the 2:26 mark.
Wasco's offense came alive in the fourth quarter by scoring two touchdowns to win by 18.
