The investigation into the Labor Day crash that killed a Taft man and left his son with severe injuries is still not complete.
It's been two months since the motorcycle driven by Robert Mansell crashed into a tractor-trailer driven by a Bakersfield man.
Mansell was killed. His son, Nick, 12, suffered major injuries, including a traumatic amputation of leg and multiple fractures.
Two weeks after the crash, Taft Police forwarded the accident report to the Kern County District Attorney requesting a manslaughter charge against the truck driver, Chad Harrelson.
The report was sent back to police seeking further investigation.
Taft Police. Lt. Pete Aranda said the District Attorney sent the report back with a lengthy list of items needed before it would be reviewed again and police are working through he list.
Both Harrelson and the owners of the truck have retained lawyers and that is further complicating the investigation, Aranda said.
The crash took place at Highway 33 and Wood Street on Sept. 2.
