Actually it was just an intoxicated man in costume, deputies say

Kern County Sheriff's deputies arrested a vampire in Taft on Halloween Night.

Actually, it was a very drunk Cuyama man dressed in a vampire costume complete with face paint, Sgt. Martin Downs said.

Apparently he'd been drinking alcohol only, not blood.

Downs said deputies received a report of an intoxicated man walking in the roadway on South Tenth Street near Wood Street about 11:15 p.m..

The man, in his vampire costume, was walking in the street and cars were swerving to miss him, Downs said.

Arriving deputies found the suspect staggering in the roadway on Tenth Street "smelling heavily of alcohol," Downs said.

The suspect, Zale Morris, 51, was charged with public intoxication.
