There's a lot to do in Taft this week
Here is the weekly update from the Taft District Chamber of Commerce Events coordinator Shannon Jones:

Trout Fishing Derby is THIS Saturday!
Last night, the lake was stocked with thousands of pounds of Trout for this weekend's Trout Fishing Derby. You can register at Bob's Bait Bucket until 1pm on Friday or here at the Chamber office at 400 Kern Street until Friday afternoon. Registrations will be accepted Friday night from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Shell Station on Enos Lane and Saturday morning at the lake, beginning at 4:30 a.m. Pick up your wristbands for entry all day Friday at the Chamber office, Friday night at the Shell station or when you register on Saturday morning. Everyone must be registered in order to get into the lake Saturday.

Wednesday, November 13
No Sit n' Sip - We will be closed to attend the Kern EDC Energy Summit in Bakersfield. Next Thursday, November 20 we will celebrate 30 years with Midway Laboratory with a special presentation and breakfast at the Chamber office.
Thursday, November 14.
•7 p.m., Guys and Dolls at TUHS Auditorium, $5 children and seniors, $7 adults
Friday, November 15
•9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Registration and wristbands distributed for Trout Fishing Derby, Taft Chamber office
•5 p.m. to 8p.m., Registration and wristbands distributed for Trout Fishing Derby, Shell Station at Enos Lane and Highway 119
•5 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Holiday Vendor and Craft Show, WSRPD Community Center, 500 Cascade Place, no admission fee
•7 p.m. – Guys and Dolls at TUHS Auditorium, $5 children and seniors, $7 adults
Saturday, November 16
•6 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Trout Fishing Derby at Buena Vista Lake Evans, $20 adults, $10 kids (13 and under), Register at both the front and back gate, as well as the middle gate if you are camping overnight (4:30 a.m.-10 a.m.)
•8:30 a.m.-3.p.m. – Holiday Vendor and Craft Show, WSRPD Community Center, 500 Cascade Place, no admission fee
•8:30 a.m., Toys for Taft Motorcycle Run, leaving from the Taft Petroleum Club
1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Taft Camera Club 80th Anniversary celebration at West Kern Oil Museum, 1168 Wood Street
•7 p. m. – Guys and Dolls at TUHS Auditorium, $5 children and seniors, $7 adults
Sunday, November 17
•3 p. m. - Guys and Dolls at TUHS Auditorium, $5 children and seniors, $7 adults
The search for Postcard Contest Entries has been extended. We will be accepting those until Friday.
Applications for the Taft Christmas Parade are due November 25. With the Thanksgiving holiday the week before the parade, the sooner we receive your entry, the faster we can issue the line up. The Taft Christmas Parade is on Monday, December 2 and this year's theme is "A California Christmas" Email firstname.lastname@example.org for an entry form.
